I did not know Laverne for many years as many of you,  but I felt as if I knew her my whole life. She became my neighbor and we became friends. We sat and had coffee and laughed, cried, and shared our stories and she gave so much insight on life, love, and forgiveness. I moved away, but she always held a special place in my heart. I know she came into my life for a reason, and I will always cherish the memories of her. I am also grateful to have met her children, a family that is so easy to love. God Bless you all. My husband Mike and Ron were friends in school.  I met Laverne when Mike and I started dating.  She welcomed me like I was one of her own.  As our family grew, so did her love and concern.  She was always a second mom to us.  Her bubbly personality and tell it like it is attitude will be truly missed.  I am glad to know that she is out of pain and at peace with our Lord and her family.  We love you!!!

Laverne was an unforgettable woman.  A tiny Angel who could heat things up with her directness.  I saw many years ago she still enjoyed her daily Martini and to sneak an occasional cigarette.  She lived a long and beautiful life doing what she loved and being with her children (and playing Skipbo).  She is leaving behind a legacy of an amazing family.  And, I love them all.  

LaVerne is a very special woman to me! She treated me like a daughter and included me in her wonderful family! Judi has been my friend-sister since 1971 and the time we spent with "Mom" in Tucson and Camas is among my favorite memories. She liked to beat me at Skippo and taught me many life lessons. Her kindness and love will be with me always!

To the Risk kids and family: I remember visiting your mom/grandmother with Deb years ago. I remember her as a lively, engaged, interesting woman to talk with, and I picture her as I met her: in her home, surrounded by her many plants!  I’m so glad I got to meet her! 

Mom had a long, wonderful life!   She was blessed with a loving family and many good friends from years with dad in the USAF.   We have many great memories of the places we lived and traveled across the country.   Tucson has been her home since 1964 and has always had us kids near her.  She was very proud of her 4 grand children and was blessed with 3 great grand children.

Mom was more than my mother.   She was a best friend!  We had fun together - traveling,  telling stories, playing cards, watching  TV and movies, and laughing together.   She loved spending time with brothers Jim and Ron,  Debbie and all of her extended "family."

One of my favorite photos is posted on this site - the one of her holding up a glass of wine.  That was from her 96th birthday when I took her to my home in WA.  She was so happy and enjoyed spending time with good friend Olivia.  

So, when you think of mom, please be happy!  She has been anxious to join her mom and her Lord.  She is there - I know it!  And her presence will be with me always.  I love you, mom.    Judi
