Lawrence (Larry) Marc Levey, a Tucson resident for the past 39 years, passed away on June 9th, 2015 at Peppi’s House while watching the NBA finals with his best friend since childhood, Stan, and his brother, Ed, at his side. In his last days, he was surrounded by many friends who helped take care of him, including Stan, Nurse Patty and her husband Gene. Larry was born on November 8, 1953 in Newark, NJ and received his BA in History from Rutgers University. After many of his friends came out to Tucson, he followed, attended the University of Arizona, and received his MPA with an emphasis in Gerontology. He married his soul-mate, Diane Vega, in July of 1990. Larry’s legacy began in 1995, working as the Executive Director of Arizona Community Physicians (ACP). He took a physician group of 9 and grew it to over 130 doctors, over 30 mid-level providers, and over 750 employees. ACP now has over 50 locations that includes two full imaging centers and labs, plus a centralized administrative location. ACP has provided the Tucson community with quality care to thousands of patients and is considered one of the most successfully ran physician-owned groups in the country. Larry was a man who had dry sense of humor and many longtime friends. Some of his interests were his family, animals, travel, golf, and hiking. Larry is survived by his wife Diane, their daughters Ondrea and Kelsee, and their animals, Peyro, Luci and Cisco. Larry is also survived by his brother, Ed, sister-in-law, Susan, and their two children, Andrew and Marissa. He loved them all dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Humane Society of Southern AZ or Youth On Their Own. A celebration of life will be held on June 20 from 6-8pm at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
