Liborio Molina Silva

Liborio Molina Silva, also known as “El Chonte”, age 91, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Liborio was born in Cuquiarachi, Sonora, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents Liborio and Refugio Silva; his siblings Maria Morales (Jesus), Manuel Silva (Gloria), Cruz Carlos (Lauro), Cleofas Friend (Jose), Angel Silva (Guillermina), Jesus Silva (Socorro), and Belisario Silva (Sarah). He is survived by his partner Maria Grajeda; his children Patricia (Dennis) Treadwell, Martha Durazo, Teresa (Joel) Hoover, and Johnny Silva; His grandchildren Michelle, Jose, Andrinna, Yvonne, Crystal, Corrina, and Eric; and his 10 great grandchildren.

Liborio loved his family and always made it his priority to attend family gatherings and especially camping trips. His passions in life were his music (Singing), golf, hunting, fishing, camping and his family.

Early in his younger years, he and his close buddies started a musical group called “Los Cardenales”. They were very popular and loved by many especially in Naco. The group even cut a few records and cassettes. He was the foundation of his kid’s musical talents.

Those close to him knew him for his kindness, wittiness and great sense of humor (the life of the party back in the day). His love for golf kept him young at heart until his very last days and inspiring many with his multiple “Hole in One’s”. His work history included the Railroad, mining and a golf course landscaper.

We will forever be so proud of him and his accomplishments and especially to have the honor of calling him “Papa”! We thank God for all the wonderful memories we each had with him and we will miss him dearly. He is forever in our hearts, until we meet again in paradise!

A memorial service for El Chonte will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, followed by a rosary service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
