Linda H. Tuck, widow of Herman Tuck, passed away April 17th in Tucson where she lived for the last 70 + years. Born in Stamford, Connecticut to Henry Knox Hardon and Antoinette Dorr Hardon, raised in New Canaan and New York City, she graduated from Garrison Forest School and volunteered for the Frontier Nursing Service.
Linda brought her love of dogs, cats, and horses to Tucson in the 40's where she and Herman operated the Roping Club, a boarding stable, and a ‘chuck wagon’ catering service. She was Secretary of multiple local horse shows, and served as a Tucson Rodeo Ambassador at local elementary schools. She was active with her beloved Saddlebags group and was an active member of the Arizona State Horseman’s Association, the Equestrian Association, the Saguaro Horseman’s Association, the Arizona Arabian Association, the Horse and Fiddle Club (horseback square dancing), and TROT. For 27 years she volunteered with Saguaro National Park. Linda was highly respected and appreciated for her loyalty and support of family, friends, and critters. She was notorious at horse gatherings or with friendly telephone calls for frequently sharing a “History Lesson” she pulled from her ever-present daily diaries which she kept since 1954.
By reminding someone of where they’d been or what happened in the distant past she enjoyed reconnecting again and again with good times and good people. In addition to leaving many dear friends and extended family she leaves son Larry Tuck of Tucson; son Jim Tuck and his wife, Diana, formerly of Tucson and residing in Boise, Idaho; granddaughter Jaime formerly of Tucson and her husband, Afa Faraimo now residing in Boise, Idaho with their family of Daniel, Charlie, and Henry; and grandson Chris Tuck formerly of Tucson and his wife Amy residing now in Calabasas, California with their family of Ruby and Ginger. Linda was predeceased by a brother Burr Hardon, sister Phyllis Gander, and grandson Brett Tuck of Prescott.
Family requests donations in memory of Linda be made directly to AZ Nature Conservancy at 1510 E. Ft. Lowell, Tucson 85719 or Southern Arizona Humane Society at 3450 N. Kelvin Tucson, AZ. 85716. Happy Trails Linda.
Arrangements under the direction of East Lawn Palms Mortuary, Tucson, AZ.
