

He was baptized “in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ” and filled with the Holy Ghost in January 1954 at Pentecostal Lighthouse under the leadership of Elder Joey McVay. He was elevated to the office of Deacon, a post in which he served faithfully from 1975 to 2003. Marshall held his position at Apostolic Morning Light, Apostolic Faith Temple and Greater Emmanuel Grace Apostolic Church. While a Deacon, he served in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, church maintenance, transportation, church chef and advisor to the pastor. In 2003, he assumed leadership of Bethel Temple Apostolic Church as Pastor.
Marshall began his employment with the City of Tucson in 1957 working with the Parks & Recreation Department. He later worked for the City of Tucson’s Housing Department as an inspector and was later promoted to supervisor of inspectors and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1991.
Marshall was preceded in death by his mother and father, his stepfather Andrew Govan (AZ), siblings William “Sonny” Gantt (AR), Roberta Harris, May Belle Thomas, Alice “Faye” Brown (AZ), first wife Shirley Maxine Cook (NV) and twin sons Raymond and Rayford Gantt (AZ). He is survived by his wife of 52 years Erma Gantt, sisters Joyce Clayton, Betty (Earnest) Bradford, Mary Davis, children Michael (Vicky), Jacquline Phillips, Anthony (Betty), Stephanie (Charles) Long (NV), Marshall (Latisha), Kevin (Viola), Desmond (AZ), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish his memory.
