

Mary Jean (aka Boo to her sisters) 67 of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully June 11, 2024.
Mary Jean was born in Auburn, New York to Pat and Bill Barrows and was the first of five children. Mary Jean attended Weedsport High School and graduated from Rutland High School in Vermont. She graduated from the Nurses program with Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES (LPN).
Mary Jean was an independent force whose love and pride for her family emanated in her day-to-day routines, people she met knew exactly who her children and grandchildren were. As a nurse, Mary also helped many patients receive wonderful and meaningful care during her career.
Mary’s talent and love for crochet and craft creations will not only fill everyone’s hearts with sentimental memories that bring her to mind, but her noteworthy creations will continue to be useful for countless tasks and purposes (especially items that bring her grandchildren a touch of happiness each day).
Mary Jean is survived by her children Katie (Derek) Koster, Kevin (Rachel) McCarthy and Joe (Ashley) McCarthy; sisters Tish (Gibby) Gibson, Patty (Greg) McCoski and Linda (Scott) Landers; her grandchildren whom she cherished- Brielle, Avery, Andrew, Keegan, Mackenzie and Archer; her special cousin Barbara Jean VanDitto; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her late husband of 38 years Mike (Mack) McCarthy, parents Pat and Bill Barrows, brother Steve Barrows, and Aunt Mary (Mimi) Conley.
Mary Jean’s beautiful voice will forever be engraved in her family’s hearts, and anyone who ever had the pleasure of hearing her sing.
Mass will be held on Thursday June 20, 2024 at 3pm at Corpus Christi Parish in Tucson AZ, burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, AZ on Friday June 21, 2024, at 10am.
