At 3:55 p.m., on Friday, May 3rd 2024, Mary Trujillo, of Amado Arizona, took her last breath. It was at this moment, she was finally reunited with her beloved late husband, Charlie Trujillo. There's no mistaking by the look on her face, that her Darling Chunkie, was waiting there at Heaven’s Gate, just like he’d promised her he would, several years ago. Mary passed peacefully in her bed, surrounded by loved ones, including her ever faithful Chihuahua, Maggie.
Mary Lyle Trujillo, age 76, was born on July 24th, 1947, to Erlene and Harry Hubbard, in Walla Walla, Washington. She was the second of five children. Gene, was the oldest, then Mary, followed by, Francis, Eddy, and Thelma. Mary adored her siblings and learned at a very young age, the importance of caring for one another and strong family values. This was one of many beliefs, and strongest bonds, that held Mary and Charlie’s hearts so close together, until he passed away at the age of 48.
Mary first married a farmer named Ron, at the age of 16, and didn’t finish high school. Her momma was a homemaker and her daddy worked for the railroad. Mary took the best she learned from both parents, and grew into a multitalented, and hardworking homemaker. When Mary found herself a divorced woman with 2 daughters to raise on her own, she found a friend in Charlie, while bartending at the NCO club. That friendship turned into, the beginning of the rest of her life in with Charlie, in Arizona.
Mary and Charlie had the bright idea that, they could single handedly, repopulate a small town called Amado. Mary, feeling pretty worn out by her mid 30’s, forced Charlie to start watching more TV at night. They came pretty close to reaching that goal. Mary is survived by her 9 children. Sarah, Ronda, Herminia, Heather, Heidi, Stanley, Marsella, Monica, and Angela, who all followed in mom’s footsteps. They blessed Mary and Charlie with a total of 48 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.
Mary was a natural caregiver, and enjoyed her family and caring for her children and grandchildren the most. It should be no surprise that when Mary didn’t have any more children at home, she went back to school and got her Cosmetologist License, in her 50’s. Mary was clever and full with knowledge gained through all of her life experiences. She had a gift, that, if she could think it, she could do it. She was her daughter’s role model, and her son’s first crush. She was our moral compass, our best friend, our confidant, and hero. She was a wonderful, caring mother, who was always there when we needed her the most, offering wisdom, support, sometimes a little cash, and love in abundance. She loved each and every one of us, along with our spouses, and children. Even the jerks….
With that being said; Mary, Momma, Mumsy, Mommy-Moms, Old Gal, and Ma’s, you are leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, endurance and strength, and you will be, ever so dearly missed. Sleep tight with Daddy, Momma. You made him proud.
