

He served in the United States Army for 20 years and spent most of his military career overseas. He enjoyed living in other countries and experiencing a variety of cultures.
He graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, and had a second career after the military assisting Federal inmates readjust to life after prison. He had a passion for working with the less fortunate members of society and believed in letting people have a second chance.
Mike was an avid collector of political campaign buttons and militaria. He spent many Saturday mornings scanning yard sales and swap meets looking for that “special treasure”. He enjoyed a little sideline selling interesting curios at a local antique mall.
He appreciated early blues music and had an inquisitive interest in Japanese literature.
He coached Little League baseball and basketball for a number of years and taught Sunday school to 3-year olds.
He is survived by Clara, his wife of 33 years, and his son Michael. Other survivors include four brothers and one sister: Harold James Triem, Jr. of Tucson; Anthony Richard Triem of Las Vegas; Gwendolyn Sue Potthoff of Globe, AZ; William Milo Triem of Palm Springs, CA and Terry Neil Triem of Rockwall, TX, along with several nieces and nephews.
