He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Mike, Mikel or “Mikel Odell Freeman” as he was most likely to introduce himself, was a true- blue San Francisco 49ers fan. You would most likely see him sporting a 49ers shirt and hat. Mikel was a sweet compassionate man who impacted many lives in the recovery community in Paradise and Oroville CA. He started his working life as a cook and used this skill off and on throughout his life. He would often cook several turkeys for the holidays when working for recovery homes. Mikel started working in the oil fields in 1976 where he spent several years in Louisiana. Because of his affinity for Louisiana and the Mississippi river his ashes will be scattered later this year in the New Orleans area. Many Thanks to his two best friends; Martin Murphy and Ron Humphrey for all the love and support that they gave him the last few years! You meant the world to him! The family would also like to thank Mikel’s kind and loving sister, Debbie, brother-in-law Jim, and niece, Brianna for providing care for Mikel during his final days on earth.
