Nadine True, 89, of Tucson, was born in Trinidad, Colorado to Eddie and Frances Martin. Nadine met her husband Van at Tucson High School in 1947. They married in October 1951, shortly after Van enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force had Van and Nadine stationed in Texas, Germany, Florida, Mississippi, and Colorado. While in Colorado, Van and Nadine had three children, Michael (Sharon Paeth), David, and Daniel. Shortly after David and Daniel were born, Van and Nadine moved back to Tucson, to be near family. Nadine and Van were incredibly involved in their church and made many lasting friendships there.
Nadine spent most of her career as a bookkeeper and paymaster, but was most proud of being a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend. She doted on her five grand kids: William, Van, Paisley (Michael), Megan, and Ashley (Daniel). She always wanted her house to be a safe home, full of comfort and food for family and friends. Nadine loved her wonderful dogs Bucky and Jake, and hummingbirds and desert tortoises. Nadine loved travelling and square dancing with Van, sewing, crafts, and, in later times, making greeting cards with her great friend Louise and other friends. Nadine was motivated by her faith, and endeavored to be friendly and encouraging to everyone, in good times and bad.
Nadine struggled with arthritis and several other ailments, but rarely let them slow her down. Nadine suffered a stroke in November 2020 and never fully recovered. Nadine is survived by her Husband of 69 years, three children, and five Grandchildren. The Family would like to thank The Bradford Home and Emblem Hospice for their excellent, compassionate care during Nadine’s last months.
All are welcome to a graveside service where Nadine will be laid to rest at 9am Tuesday, July 6, 2021, with a reception to follow, at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
We will not say “Goodbye” Nadine – only “See you later!”
