They lived there together for over 55 years! Lee and Wes were well known in the neighborhood.
Many years ago, Lee worked as a cashier at Lucky’s grocery store on 6th Avenue, The Del Monte Market and The Circle K on 12th Avenue. Lee sold Avon for over 40yrs, had lots of customers and collected many things from Avon. She never forgot to place an order! Lee loved Elvis Presley and always said her husband, Wes looked like him when he was younger.
Lee loved crafts! She sewed and made all her daughter’s clothing while they were growing up. She also liked to knit, crochet and macrame. Lee loved planting! She loved iris and had bulbs imported from Holland. She took so much pride in planting them and couldn’t wait for them to bloom in the spring so all the grandkids could see how pretty and tall they were. Lee was a devoted catholic, loved the Lord and The Virgin Mary. She made sure that all 3 of her daughter’s were baptized and made their Holy Communion. Lee even visited The Pope. Lee was very dedicated and faithful to her religion, was a parishioner and taught Catechism at Santa Cruz Catholic Church for a few years.
Lee was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lee always offered wisdom, and love to her family. She loved having family over for all the major holidays and enjoyed spending time with everyone. During summer BBQ’s Lee would make her famous tuna salad, and red, white and blue jello. The grandkids loved it, especially the boys. Lee made sure that the ping pong table had paddles and balls so everyone could play. Lee loved taking pictures and rushing to pick them up at the kodak store on 12th Ave.
Lee loved recording every moment on her camcorder, and never wanted to miss out on a special moment. She had more VHS tapes than anyone we knew and she loved going back and watching them. Lee loved going on picnics for Easter and Roosevelt Lake during the summer with grandpa's speed boat and wave runners. Lee loved her turtles and raised them in her backyard. Every spring they would have babies, and she couldn’t wait to show the grandkids! Lee also loved hummingbirds and always had feeders waiting for them. She would look for their nests and couldn’t wait to see their babies flying around.
