Ordell Deeojn Jones was born on Mother’s Day May 12, 1968 in Tucson, Arizona to Odell Jones and Florine Cluff Jones, both of Texas. He grew up as a quiet, yet very studious young man due to childhood asthma; and excelled in his classes all the way through High School (Sunnyside Class of 1986). He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ around the age of eleven and was baptized at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James D. Williams.
Throughout his educational and spiritual journey, Ordell, often called by his family as “Dee”, participated in several activities and clubs and later accepted the call to the Ministry of the Gospel of Jesus and was licensed on September 25, 1994. Min. Ordell Jones was an intense Bible Scholar and studied religiously and consistently to teach Sunday school, college Bible Studies, and community Bible Studies under ODJ Enterprises. You could ask him where a scripture is found and he could quote the exact scripture by memory. What a gift! As of September 2015, Ordell was to complete his second Bachelor’s Degree as he continued to be a life-learner; and planned to continue his Master’s Program in 2016. With as much knowledge as he had gained; he continued to ask more and gain even more wisdom and knowledge. This thirst seemed to never be filled and he tried to pass this thirst for knowledge on to his students in the Phoenix, Tucson and Amphitheater School Districts. As a result of his vast knowledge, Ordell could communicate with anyone, any time and about anything!
Ordell earned several educational certifications and awards; and trophies for bowling. Ordell was certified as a mentor for life coaching, teaching certificates, music composition and more. He also was instrumental in maintaining the Sunnyside High School Class of 1986 and planning the 30th class reunion. In addition, he was an active member of the Tucson Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Management Club of Tucson and more! He is so loved by co-workers and co-laborers as they share the same love for teaching and music.
As early as the age of five, Ordell began playing the drums, coronet, and guitar; and eventually the piano, bass guitar and dabbled with other instruments to further his music quest and train other musicians. Over the past few years, Ordell obtained several students and artists to support individuals in their quest for music. He hosted concerts for his students to allow them a platform to “showcase” their talent. He can be contributed with the debut of several artists to include his sister of which he produced and composed original music. Ordell, under his company name ODJ Enterprises has been writing, composing and arranging music for 20 plus years. He recently wrote songs and shared with many just days ago that he was looking to release later this year. His family will continue to release them as he envisioned! Anyone who knew this humble, fun and persistent man knows that he was passionate about music (all kinds) and could be found helping many churches, organizations and events through the gift of music. He demonstrated great faith and was not ashamed to use everything he had to bring a sweet aroma unto the Lord!
Ordell’s rising into the presence of the Lord was on August 11, 2015. Although he never married nor had children, he had many family members who loved him and supported him. He was preceded in death by his father, Odell Jones, brother, John Wayne Jones and sister, Dwanethell G. Jones. He is survived by his anointed mother, Florine C. Jones; brother Delgie L. Jones, Sr. (Yolanda) of Virginia; sister, Dansiea Jones Morris (Leonjo, Sr.) of Arizona; nephew, Delgie L. Jones II of Colorado; niece, Airicka M. Pearson of Maryland; 3 step-nephews and 2 step-nieces, 1 great niece, 2 great nephews, 6 aunts, 4 uncles, a host of cousins, close family friends, co-workers and many children whom he fathered spiritually and educationally
