

Oscar Paul Osuna Basurto, a hardworking family man, passed away peacefully on March 22nd at his home in Tucson Arizona after a yearlong battle with stage four cancer. Survived by his four children, one grandchild, the mother of his children, two sisters, and his mother. Born in Culiacan Sinaloa to his mother Concepción Basurto and Father Jesus-Oscar Osuna-Lizarraga. As a child Oscar moved to Tijuana Baja-California to live with his cousins and grandmother. He enjoyed school and he worked hard. Oscar got his first job at 13 years old creating luxury doors. He used his money to feed himself and his family. He recalled buying his own pair of shoes, red and white checkered Vans, with his own money as his most fond childhood memory.
Oscar moved to the United States at 19 years old and lived with his uncles and cousins. He met Teresa Soto in 1990, and with her raised four children and one grandchild. Oscar’s work ethic and dedication was an inspiration to many. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life from event packing to landscaping. Oscar made his career as a plumber for Tucson Plumbing. As a plumber of 20 years, Oscar had a strong network of friends and co-workers who respected him, looked up to him, and shared many laughs with him.
Throughout his life Oscar enjoyed various hobbies. He was a soccer coach for his daughters, son, and his nephew. He had a lifelong passion for soccer, sharing several fond memories with his family of going to see his favorite team, Mexico, play in Phoenix Arizona. He collected guns and enjoyed shooting them with his family. He had a passion for cars and trucks, owning a variety of them throughout his entire life, namely, his Corvette which was a dream car of his. He loved working on cars, especially his children’s cars, always wanting to ensure they were tuned up and ready to go and never forgetting to add fuel injector cleaner. Oscar loved to eat, he had a taste for Sushi, Mariscos, and his favorite food, Tacos of any kind. He was well known in his community, you could find him most often at his favorite restaurants Quinos, Casa Valencia, and Taco Giro, where all the regulars, staff, and management knew him as a friend.
Oscar will be remembered for his gratitude and humility. He always gave a helping hand to the elderly and treated everyone with respect. He made sure his children were always well dressed, polite, and well fed. He cared deeply for his family, he made sure his grandchild, his sisters, cousins, and nephews and nieces, never went without. Oscar was an unapologetically responsible person. He would never miss an obligation, he would wake up exactly at dawn for work and his vacations, he took his nice clothes to the dry cleaners, he serviced his cars and kept them clean, and he would always clean his shoes before wearing them. Oscar was admired and loved by everyone around him, his character, his soul will be remembered fondly as a gracious and dutifully hardworking man.
