Ramona “Monchi” Lopez Borboa, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2026, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Boa” Borboa, with whom she shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Monchi is lovingly survived by her Children Catherine “Cathy” Vazquez, Cecilia Grijalva(Raymond+), Albert Borboa(Sally) and Graciela “Gracie” Canez; her 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Monchi was born on June 29, 1942, in Tucson, Arizona, to Guillermina “Billie” Young and Roberto Lopez. As the eldest of all her siblings, she shared a lifelong bond with her family, including her sisters Prieta and Mellie, who preceded her in death, and her six half-siblings; Dodie, Beto, Neto, Terri, Frank, and Manny; who became part of the family after her father’s marriage to Helen Wilkins.
After graduating from Pueblo High School in 1961, Monchi married the love of her life, Boa, and together they began building their family.
Monchi dedicated 30 years of her life as the kitchen manager at Pueblo Gardens Elementary School, where students knew to be on their best behavior in Miss Monchi’s cafeteria. An exceptional cook, she found great joy in sharing her recipes and traditions, especially with her granddaughters, ensuring her love would live on through every meal prepared for their families.
Born and raised in the Catholic Church, Monchi was a woman of deep faith who served in many roles at Our Lady Queen of All Saints. She believed in following in the footsteps of Jesus by loving everyone. One of her most meaningful contributions was teaching catechism for many years, through which she educated countless children and young adults about the Catholic faith.
Monchi was well-known for her honesty, tough love, singing, and cooking. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including trips to the casino. Beautiful inside and out she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Services for Monchi will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026, starting at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Parish. Celebration of Life following at the Casino Ballroom from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
