Passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 9th, 2025 after a hard fought battle with 3 strokes and Alzheimers. He was 78. He began his journey through life on August 13th, 1946, in Dearborn, MI. He was the son of Lorraine Frances Babineau and Raymond Albert Tallis Sr. His childhood was filled with days fishing on the lake just outside the back door of their home at the cider mill and apple orchard they owned. During the winter, that same lake provided a place to ice skate and ice fish. He was the husband of Barbara Ann. Brother to Kurt. Father to Jennifer and Kevin. Grandfather to Lauren, Hailey, Makenna, Maddix, Gabriel, and Devlin, and great-grandfather to Sterling.
He attended the U of A, obtained his bachelor's degree began his career as a probation officer, and then was the deputy director of the Juvenile Detention Center in Tucson for 30 years.
He spent a lot of time fixing everything under the sun, countless hours playing horseshoes, getting together to hang out with the guys, for "choir practice" working on racecars, playing the drums or harmonica, playing in a band "The Boogeymen", or learning to play video games with his grandsons Gabriel and Devlin. When we were kids, we could always count on Dad being present at football games, little league, soccer matches, and piano recitals. He loved spending his retirement with my mother! They traveled across the United States in their 5th-wheel trailer. Mom and Dad bought a little hideaway in Lakeside to escape the Tucson summer heat.
Mom was there up until the very last moment when he took his final breath. This is who my parents were to one another, lifelong soul mates. This is who Dad was to all of us.
