Rene A’lynn Davies was love in human form. She was cherished, faithful, compassionate, devoted, gentle, wise, and selfless—a woman whose life radiated kindness and whose heart belonged completely to God and her family.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Mollie and Richard Johnson, Rene grew up in a military family, learning early the values of loyalty, resilience, and service. Though her family moved often, they eventually settled in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where Rene’s light began to shine through music, choir, color guard, tumbling, and her natural role as caretaker to her younger siblings. She loved her brothers and sisters fiercely and helped raise them with patience and tenderness.
Rene answered God’s call through education. With an MBA in Education and Reading, she dedicated her life to children who needed someone to believe in them. As a Title I Director for the Sunnyside School District in Tucson, Arizona, she changed lives and hearts, earning numerous Teacher of the Year awards—but her greatest reward was seeing her students succeed.
Her true ministry, however, was her family. She poured herself into being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her beloved daughter Tammy Gordon and son-in-law Jeremy Gordon; grandchildren Miranda Dickens (Michael, Bremerton, WA), Dylan Gordon (Bremerton, WA), and Wesley Gordon (Tucson, AZ); four great-grandchildren, with another precious life on the way. Her legacy continues through each of them.
Rene is also survived by her brother Helmer Johnson (wife Marla, Bartlesville, OK) and her sister Carolyn Feyh (husband Larry, Tucson, AZ), along with many nieces and nephews who were deeply loved.
She was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband Larry Davies, her mother and father, and many cherished members of both families.
Rene was a born-again child of God, boldly living her faith every day. She was an active member of the Sisters of Christ group at Christian Faith Fellowship, where she found joy, sisterhood, and purpose. She loved the Johnson and Brinks families, cherished time spent crocheting, reading Amish stories, gardening, baking, and most of all studying God’s Word. Her compassion extended to all of God’s creatures, especially animals.
Her faith, her family, her smile, and her beautiful, kind eyes will never be forgotten.
The family gives deep and heartfelt thanks to the many doctors who cared for Rene through the years, and to Pastor Dave, Helmer, her brothers and sisters, and her church family for walking alongside her with love and prayer.
“Be alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. Do everything in love.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:13–14
“I love you, Manna, and I will see you again in Heaven.
Love always,
Tammy.”
