

Rex Allen Hardy, 65, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away August 24, 2016. Preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Lee Hardy, his mother, Freeda Camilla (Miner) Hardy, and his sister, Sherry Lee Myers. Rex was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on May 6, 1951 and graduated from Muskogee High School, Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1969.
He was married to Ruth Lanell Clark on November 8, 1974. Rex worked as Materials Manager at Evergreen Air Center, Marana, Arizona. He worked as Merchandise Supervisor for Walmart Neighborhood Market, Oro Valley, Arizona. He worked in retail sales from 1970-2016. His grocery career started as a carryout and moved upward to store manager. Rex was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, United States Army Reserves (Honorable Discharge in 1975), Tucson, Arizona Chapter of Arts and Crafts, and Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, Troop #871 as an Adult Support Volunteer. He had a passion for helping others, playing with his grandchildren, spending time with his family, making craft items, gardening, country music concerts, sports, and a loyal fan for Tucson Wildcats, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Dallas Cowboys.
He was survived by his wife, Ruth L. Hardy, of 41 years, his daughter Janell Mathis and her daughters, Cera R. Mathis, Lynell A. Mathis, Krysta L. Mathis, and Alena C. Mathis, his daughter, Jennifer R. Hardy and spouse, Shawn Chavez, their children, Nickie Chavez, William Chavez, Kristina (Chavez) Hickey and husband, Kyle, his sister, Sheila Maxwell and husband Carl of Heavener, Oklahoma. He left behind several nieces and nephews and many friends. He also served as local “Grandpa” for special friend Sofia K. Sanchez and her sister, Stella A. Sanchez.
A Viewing will be held at 12:30 pm on August 31, 2016 at East Lawn Palms Chapel, Tucson, Arizona. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm. There will be a private family placement but please join the family for a reception from 1:30 – 3:30. Funeral arrangements were made by East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery.
