Richard was loved by many. He was a gentle soul full of humor. He could make anyone laugh, and each person he touched always left with a smile on their face. He was calm and collected in any scenario, and his sharp mind lasted him until the very end.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary Louise Angstadt. They had been married for 65 years going on 66 this August 5th. They raised four children, and their clan has grown substantially over the decades with the introduction of grandchildren and great grandchildren to the family.
Born in Lower Macungie, PA in 1925, Dick would later enlist into World War II and become a nose gunner operating on a B-24J Liberator. His crew successfully flew 26 missions from Italy over the Alps into Germany before the war ended. Upon his return to the United States, he met the love of his life, and the rest is history. He worked for IBM for 42 years, and eventually retired in Tucson after moving there in 1979.
A memorial service will be held on April 23rd, beginning at 10:30 AM at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, located at 8625 E. Tanque Verde Rd in Tucson, Arizona. Military honors and lunch will be provided.
Arrangements under the direction of Desert Rose Heather Cremation & Burial, Tucson, AZ.
