Robert Palomino, age 76, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his family from the progression of his vascular dementia disease caused by strokes. Bob was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in Gallup, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosie in 1993, father Eusebio “Bob” in 2002, and brother Max Palomino in 2004.
Bob started his professional career in the banking business in Gallup, NM and relocated with his wife, Patricia, and children to Arizona. Bob spent many years with Valley National Bank working all over southern Arizona and eventually retired from Arizona State Savings & Credit Union. Bob worked tirelessly for his family and friends. His interests included anything his children were involved with, in particular as Band Parent President, and the Knights of Columbus. His personal interests included bowling and he spent many years active with the American Bowling Association and he was a devoted Dallas Cowboys, Tucson Toros, and Arizona Wildcats fan. Bob and his best friend Ernie (Buzzy) held Arizona Wildcat football season tickets for years and loved to attend those games, along with baseball and any other sport to get away together and then out for his favorite meal, a hamburger and a beer. Bob was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly #2152 serving as Grand Knight, receiving Man of the Year 2015-16 and recently received his Honorary Life Membership for faithful service to the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 53 years Patricia “Patsy”, daughter Rosemary Palomino (Donny Huestis), son Patrick Palomino (Adela), granddaughter Brittney Palomino, aunt Mary Jane Carrillo, nieces Erica Palomino and Maxine Palomino, cousins Lucile Sterling, Robin Sarracino, Rachel Sarracino, Valerie Sarracino, brothers-in-law David (Marie) Luna and James Luna, and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jimenez, Becky Luna and Esther Luna and many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, March 31st from 5-7p at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson. Funeral mass will be held on April 1st, Holy Thursday, at 10a at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 1800 N Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson with burial following at Noon at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. There will be a reception following located at American Legion Post 36 located at 5845 E 22nd St. Tucson, in the event room.
