Robert “Bob” Sell
Nov. 2, 1932 – Nov. 20, 2020
We are here in remembrance of a life well lived. Bob Sell was a man with many friends and family who loved him. Bob was the youngest brother of eight very close and steadfast siblings. He was the father of one son and three daughters. His extended family included his devoted partner of the past 8 years, June Roselle, 41 years’ association with the service members of the Lion’s Club, his crooning buddies of the Tucson Star Spangled Seniors, and his close friends at the Western Way RV Resort, along with the countless other lives he has touched throughout his 88 years.
Bob was born in Melvern, Kansas where he grew up as the son of Lawrence and Gladys Sell. He joined the military as a young man and became a dental technician in the United States Navy. It was there he met his first wife, Marilyn Boyer, and started a family in Anaheim, California. He was a hard-working man for General Distributors, giving over 30 years, first in Southern California and then in Portland, Oregon. One of his greatest passions was playing golf, and he was proud of his many birdies over the years. He also enjoyed bowling on leagues with his buddies.
Bob was committed to giving service to others. Not only did he dedicate hours of each week volunteering with the Lion’s Club, and earn the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Service Award, the highest award which can be given at the local level, but he was always ready to lend a helping hand when there was work to be done.
Bob was a fun-loving man, always ready with a joke or a story… and oftentimes it was hard to tell the difference! He would get that twinkle in his eye, and flash a mischievous smile, and only then would you know it was definitely a joke! Bob was one of the most social people you could have ever met. He loved to walk the park, visiting along the way, prepared with a special Bob joke of the day. The world is a lesser place for no longer having Bob in it, yet richer for how he has touched all of our lives. We are blessed with many incredible memories of his wit, kindness, talent, common sense and intelligence.
The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. ~Mark Twain
