Romelia Siebels

the arms of her Lord on June 15, 2021 at All Comforts of Home in Tucson,

AZ. She was born on February 19, 1932 in St. Paul, MN to Myron and

Martha (Mohn) Grant.

She grew up in Rapidan, MN where she attended and graduated from Rapidan

High School and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapidan.

She married Kenneth Siebels on November 10, 1951. They farmed outside

Vernon Center for many years. They later divorced. Romelia suffered the

loss of her right hand in an accident before her marriage, but with

courage and determination learned to be very proficient with only her

left hand, all while raising her 3 children. After divorcing, with the

same courage and determination she entered Mankato State University in

Mankato, MN in 1976, where she graduated with a Major in Elementary

Education and a Minor in Special Education in 1980. With even further

courage and determination, she moved that same year to Arizona, where she

lived on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation by Sells, AZ and taught

Special Ed., while also starting the first Native American Clown

School. She eventually moved to Tucson and worked for the Unified

School District there, subbing for many years even after her

retirement. She married Ed McKain and they later divorced. She was

always very involved in her Friendly Village Estates community where she

lived for 30 years, either holding office, volunteering or hosting a

social event.

Romelia was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Troy Hund and

sister Jean Hatleli. She is survived by her children, Mark (Virginia)

Siebels of Chandler, AZ, Lori (Don) Waylett of Mankato, MN, and John

Siebels of Tucson, AZ.

Grandchildren, Audra Waylett, Erica (Brian) Imrie of Napa, CA and Mark

(Brittany) Carducci of Napa, CA. Great-grandchildren, Kellen and

Barrett Imrie, Dominic, Hudson and Uriah Carducci. Sisters, Isobel

(Skip) Field of Orange, CA and Jessica Noland of Westminster, CO and

many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial for Romelia will be held on Sunday, September 19th at 3PM in the club house of Friendly Village Estates, located at 1202 W Miracle Mile, Tucson, AZ 85705
