Ruth Hargis passed away on Feb 9 2016 at the age of 90. She was born in Long Beach CA Dec 30 1925 in her grandmothers feather bed. She graduated from Avenal CA high school in 1943 and during WWII worked as a Rosie Riveter at ship yards and aircraft plants in the Los Angeles area. She married ex WWII marine Robert Strong in 1945 and together they had a son named Dennis. Later she divorced and married a US Navy man, Haskel Hargis in 1953 and stayed married for 62 years. Together they spent a happy life and lived in many overseas and stateside places during her husbands Navy career including San Diego, Guam, Long Beach, Japan, and Norfolk VA. After Navy life they lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, California, Idaho, and finally in 1992 moved to Tucson where they both settled down to finish their lives together. Her husband, Haskel passed away March 17, 2015.
She is survived by her only child Dennis Hargis of Marana plus three-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren all living in California. She will be laid to rest at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson on Feb 20, 2016. "
