

Longtime Tucson resident, Ruth Rust, passed away on February 8th, 2012. Ruth was born August 14, 1922 in Winchester, Ind. She was third from the youngest of 10 children born to Homer Dean and Leona Bell Courtney Dean. She graduated from Saratoga High School in April of 1941.
In 1943, Ruth married Roy Whiteman – she was widowed on D-Day, June 6th, 1944. On February 1st, 1947, Ruth married Donald Eugene Rust in the town of Eaton Ohio and over the next 13 years, they became the parents of 4 children, Brenda Joy Gray, Dennis Alen Rust, Brian Wayne Rust, and Eric Dean Rust.
In 1961, Ruth and Don moved their family to Tucson where they made their home until Don’s death in 1996. During their family raising years, Ruth ran a beauty shop out of her home and later became the accountant and book keeper for Don’s contracting business, Century Builders.
After retirement, Ruth enjoyed many years of team bowling. Ruth also enjoyed participating in the lives of her four children, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as they grew and began raising families of their own. She loved to take pictures and document all of life’s events in the wonderful photo albums and scrap books she constructed. Ruth also enjoyed cards, board games and piecing puzzles together.
A memorial service will be held in Ruth’s honor at 2:00pm on February 16th, 2012 at East Lawn Palms on East Grant Road in Tucson.
