Sergio H. Armendariz “Checo”, 79yo, earned his wings on April 25, 2022. Checo is survived by his wife of 56 years Blanca Armendariz; Daughters: Maria Hawkes and Norma Gonzalez; Sons: Hugo Armendariz and Carlos Armendariz; Sister: Hortencia Rascon; Grandchildren: Stephanie Felix, Javier Moreno, Rene Ballesteros Jr, Carlos Moreno, Cassandra Armendariz, Destry Armendariz, Desiree Armendariz, Dominique Armendariz, Carlos Armendariz Jr, Felicia Armendariz, and Benicio Armendariz. Checo also had seven Great Grandchildren.
Checo was born and raised in Cd. Madera Chihuahua, Mex. on February 20, 1943. Everyone he touched loved him. His smile, joke telling and his genuine care for others were admirable. Checo made a living in America doing what he loved and that was to play music, and he played his heart out with so much joy and enthusiasm. He played in many Mariachis and trios around the Tucson area. He even landed a gig with Johnny Depp in the movie American Dream. His pride and joy were not only music but also his family. Checo’s family adored him just as much.
The Armendariz family would like to thank all our friends and family that have prayed, called and visited during this difficult time. Please know that your kindness will not go unnoticed and we appreciate every one of you!
