Steven Andrew Meyer, 57, left the limitations of his earthly confines and returned to the Lord on March 1, 2026, the day before his 58th birthday. Steve was born in Valparaiso, Indiana and resided in Tucson, Arizona for over 30 years. Steve is survived by his wife, Renée Maldonado, sons Andrew Meyer and Kevin (Misty) Meyer, brothers Jim (Cheryl) Meyer and Jason (Dora) Meyer, nieces Danielle (Eddie) Quagliata, Jolene Meyer, Emily (Mark) Prechtel, Audra Meyer, Greta Meyer, and Joanna Meyer, and a slew of cousins, all of whom will miss his charm and his wit. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James and Donna Meyer, and sister, Karen Meyer. Steve was a very creative man who lived life on his own terms. Whether it be working to build cell phone towers disguised as trees or fake saguaro cacti, working with concrete to make tables or Mesoamerican statues, making custom wood boxes for friends and family, intricate poolscapes, or the Christmas windows at Marshall Field’s department store in Chicago, he could envision and make things that others could not. Most people build things; Steve constructed art. He loved for things to balance and fit together naturally. Before his health turned, he could often be seen out dancing at any venue with good live music with Renée. He loved exploring the desert and riding his scooter all over Tucson and up Mt. Lemmon. Recently, the University of Arizona was lucky enough to hire him to work in its carpentry department, where he impressed his colleagues with his wealth of knowledge and skills acquired throughout his lifetime. Steve’s one-of-a-kind personality will be missed by all. That SAM-I-Am, that SAM-I-Am, all will surely miss that Special Man.
