Susie Pearl Gray

Susie Pearl Gray passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on January 14, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1925, in Hemphill, TX to Anna and Wayne Holmes. While she was a resident of Arizona for more than 30 years, she built a life full of loved ones in multiple states including Wisconsin, Texas, and California.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Isaiah, and her four siblings: Mobile Griffin, Woodrow Holmes, Evon Carter, and Marshall Holmes. She is survived by her seven children: Carlene Gray, Kate Hill, Deborah Garlobos, Maverick Gray, Patricia Lee, Esaiah Gray, and James Thomas Gray; and more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Susie enjoyed sewing homemade items including clothes and quilts. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Susie took great pride in having a beautiful, light-filled, and open home.

Susie was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ for more than 30 years. She was a part of the choir and usher service.

She will be remembered as a loving mother for her kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in the name of Susie Pearl Gray.
