Terry Kathleen Brite, 69, passed away on April 23, 2025, after a long bout with pneumonia. She was a committed animal lover whose kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.
Terry was born on October 26, 1955, in Monroe County, PA, outside of Philadelphia. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, and remained in California until 2014.
Through the years, Terry worked for her parents’ family business, a pest control company called Copper Brite, and also as a bartender. She loved swimming in the ocean, fishing, and exploring gem shows – especially the one in Santa Barbara in August, 1999, where she first met her husband, Eddie, over a glass of Chardonnay.
After retirement, Terry and Eddie moved to Tucson, where she was able to pursue her passion for animal advocacy full time. Terry volunteered with Pima Animal Care Center, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, and the Hermitage Cat Shelter, learning everything she could about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) practices to manage feral cat colonies. She was trained by Best Friends Animal Society as a community ambassador, sharing the lessons she learned to guide individuals and organizations in need of help. Terry also volunteered tirelessly with Cody’s Friends Charity for nearly a decade.
Along the way, Terry started her own nonprofit, Angels All Animal Assistance, which became the inspiration for her small sanctuary in Picture Rocks, where she and Eddie cared for dozens of rescues over the years. Terry also enjoyed attending theater productions at Centennial Hall and concerts wherever and whenever she could – seeing everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Lyle Lovett, more than once. And she continued to frequent gem shows alongside Eddie, as a vendor and fellow rockhound.
Terry is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Granillo, their 34 rescue cats, 9 rescue dogs, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Terry Brite.
A memorial service to celebrate Terry's life will be held on May 23, 2025, at 1p.m. at East Lawn Palms at 5801 E. Grant Road. All who were touched by her extraordinary presence are welcome to join in honoring her memory. An outdoor toast to Terry will follow at the gazebo on the grounds.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the GoFundMe below to help Eddie with expenses, particularly to continue the sanctuary work he and Terry loved so much. https://gofund.me/2cb5d0d3
