Justine was born April 10, 1926, in the rolling hills of Southern Kentucky to Elmer and Lena Blair. She grew-up with one sister and four brothers. She was greatly influenced by her family's devotion to their faith and hard work. She relied on these strong roots all of her life.
In her late teens, Justine met Robert Gross in Indianapolis while working for her brother. Robert and Justine were soon married and eventually became parents to three children: Robert, Susan, Linda. Robert was a member of the armed services, Army and Air Force. As a military family, they were stationed in the United States as well as many places outside the continental United States: Puerto Rico, Morocco, Alaska.
Justine flourished in her role as a military wife and Mother. She had a successful career in banking. With her competitive nature, she excelled in sports such as fishing, softball, bowling.
After retiring in Tucson, Robert and Justine lived for a short time in Kentucky, then returned to permanently stay in Tucson. This was the ideal place for them. Tucson was the place to enjoy their family. In addition, they could explore activities that they especially enjoyed: camping, fishing, meeting friends at the lake. Justine became a championship fisher-woman; however, she would gladly cook the fish but would never eat it. They were also founding members of the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. Justine continued to be an active member until COVID, and she was unable to attend services. She greatly missed the fellowship of wonderful friends and the church.
Mom, we love you so much and that empty place in our hearts can only be filled by the memories we have shared with you. XOXOXO
