

Weldon Ray Shumaker passed away suddenly and peacefully November 4, 2013. He was born at the Historic Storks Nest at 223 N. Court Ave. in Tucson, AZ on July 11, 1931 to parents, James and Edna Shumaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marjorie Ann (Seymour); sons, Scott and Duane (Amy) and grandson, Kevin. He is also survived by his twin brother, Winston and brother, "Bud" (Shirley) and sisters, Celia (Jim) Huckabay and Ruth Eilers and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, "Little" Jim, Bond, and James "Conrad" Bond. Weldon grew up on the family farm northwest of Tucson and attended Laguna Elementary, Green Fields Preparatory School for Boys and Tucson High School where he was involved in track. He worked at Hughes Aircraft Co. while attending the University of Arizona for Engineering. With the city encroaching, the family farm was sold in 1968 and another farm was purchased near San Simon, AZ. He enjoyed farming, mostly cotton, in San Simon for 35 years before retiring in 2003. He was a very loving and generous husband and father. He worked long hours on the farm. He loved taking trips in his airplane. His family has very fond memories of trips to various destinations with him in his plane, especially the SCUBA diving trips to Mexico.
