

After a very brief illness Bill passed away February 7, 2014. He was born February 25, 1928 in Denver, Colorado to Mabel and Edwin Condit, the eldest of four children. When he was five, the family moved to Tucson where he attended Miles Elementary and Mansfield Junior High before graduating from Tucson High School in 1947. After earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1952 he served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After completion of his military duty he returned to Tucson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Avery Condit, his children, Marilyn Montgomery (Richard) of Morgantown, W.Va., William Condit (Joni) and Pam Selby (Rob) of Tucson, and Dr. Brian Condit (Ruth) of Tupelo, Ms., his sisters Shirley Condit Starkey (Jim) of Tucson, Alice Condit Loveless of Houston, Tx., Toddy Condit Caid of Atlanta, Ga., and cousin Allegra Gilson of San Marcos, Ca. His grandchildren, Kelsi, Devin (Leslie), Caitlin, Rachel, Andrea (Jason), Rian (Micah), Kyla (Chris), Maggie-Rose, Kate (Chad), Marissa, Anne (Joe), Brian, Abigail, and 8 great grandchildren. Bill was mechanically talented, a born teacher, a nature-lover, an avid reader and story teller. He enjoyed scuba-diving, camping, hiking, his dogs, his roses and anything his grandchildren were doing.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother and friend of many. He will be missed.
Family and friends will celebrate his life with a memorial service at 2:00 PM, Saturday March 1, 2014 at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church at 3809 E. Third St., Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, the American Parkinson Disease Association, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
