William E. Dodson 81, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer. He was a most beloved husband, father, “Papa” and friend. William was born in 1934 in Lucas County, Iowa to the parents of William E. and Mary Gwen Dodson.
He graduated from Sterling High School in Sterling, CO in 1953. He was a proud Veteran of the Navy Seabees and worked for over 30 years for the Duval & Cyprus Copper Mines. He was a true lover of reading and a history buff. Perhaps his deepest passion was music. On any given day he would break out in song and serenade all those who would listen, voluntarily or otherwise. His advice was always ready and his hands always strong. Our family has been truly blessed for having such a wonderful role model and father.
He was united in marriage to Marianna in 1962 and is survived by his wife of 54 years and his children: daughter Gwen, son William Thomas (Fiona). He is also survived by six granddaughters; Alicia, Raquel, Missy, Amanda, Samantha, Emily and his two grandsons Nick and Nathan. He also had nine great-grandchildren; Noah, Isaiah, Gabriel, Derek, Elijah, Layla, Grace, Payton and Amelia and one sister Eleanor Hillyer. He was very proud of and blessed for his family and will be greatly missed by all who have known him.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Jim Martinez, Dr. Manuel Modiano, Dr.William Kuo and their medical staff for their continued care, hope and support throughout his battle. Also, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Casa De La Luz for their outstanding care and help in his final days. And lastly, thank you to our family and friends for your help, thoughts and prayers.
Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn, Tucson, AZ.
