

Bill was born on October 25, 1940 to Lynford and Barbara Lardner in Sacramento. He is preceded in death by his parents and only sister Linda Gray. He passed away April 21, 2023 at Tucson Medical Center after a tragic fall. Bill graduated from Placer High School in 1959. In time, he enlisted in the USAF and served in California and New York, as well as, doing two tours in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict. He retrained as a flight engineer at Little Rock AFB. In 1984, he was reassigned to Howard AFB, Panama where he met his future wife, Susan Pac. They married in Reno September 11, 1985. Both were sent to DMAFB, Tucson, AZ in 1988. After a short stint flying the Compass Call mission for the 41st ECS, Bill retired in 1990 after 28 years of service. From September 2002 to August 2018 he was a member of the Sheriff Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV), logging an impressive 25,000 hours. A few months later Bill joined the volunteers at the Red Cross assisting with building and vehicle maintenance. Bill was an avid car enthusiast with his favorite being the Datsun Z. Bill is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Audra, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all that he crossed paths with and will be remembered for his selflessness. A celebration of life will be held at Windy Point atop Mt Lemmon later this year.
