

Bea (“Dee Dee” to her father) went to be with her Lord Friday, May 25, 2012, with her family around her bedside. They prayed and sang her through the gates to her Lord. She was born July 15, 1919 in Olympia, WA to Jason C. McDowell and Mamie C. (Holman) McDowell. She graduated from Olympia High in 1938, married Roy A. Long June 11, 1938, and worked at the Liberty Theatre until the arrival of their son, Aaron Michael Long in 1941. She worked at the family boat shop (H.A. Long Boat Works) sanding, painting, varnishing or whatever was needed. Daughter, Pamela Ann (Long) Schlaht, was born in 1944. Bea completed 30 years and retired from the WA State Supreme Court Reporters Office. After 34 years of marriage, Roy preceded her death in 1972. She married Edward “Bo” Bodette in 1981. He preceded her death in 2001. She was a 66-year member of Trinity Chapter #215, Order of Eastern Star, a member of Zora #5 Daughters of the Nile, Daughters of the Pioneers, Ladies’ Oriental Shrine, Capital Court Order of the Amaranth, and Olympia Eagles Auxiliary #21. She was a member of The First Christian Church in Olympia, and an active member of First Baptist Church in Shelton.
Bea is survived by her children; Mike (Claire) & Pam, 7 grandchildren: Chris Long-Potis, Sara Long-Scheib (Lee), Josh Long (Christi), Michael Reed (Amber), Tina Reed-Neilson (Brian), Andi Uffelman (Mick), and Jay Warren (Celia). 15 great-grandchildren; Jordon, Noah, Emma, Elizabeth, Christian, Caleb, Peyton, Ryleigh, Samuel, Keegan, Helen, Conner, Chelsie, Brandon, and Katie. 1 great-great grandchild, Cadon, and many nieces and nephews. Many people loved and respected this fine lady and she will be missed. We know she is with our Lord in the promised room He has prepared for her.
