Charles was a proud family man and a dedicated individual known for his hard work, generosity, and kindness. A natural problem solver, he was often called upon as a "fixer of most things." He graduated from Olympia Technical Community College with a degree in Computers and Centralia Community College with a degree in Business, which laid the foundation for his successful career as a businessman. For over 40+ years, Charles along with Linda owned and operated four restaurants: Artic Circle, Henry C's, Nisqually Bar & Grill, and Martin Way Diner. In addition to the restaurants, he also flipped houses in Tacoma and the neighboring communities.
Charles was deeply involved in his community as a member of the South Sound Rotary Club, where he served as president, and as a Thurston County youth baseball coach. He was also an Army veteran and a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
In addition to hunting and fishing with friends and family, Charles was an avid enthusiast of hot rods and classic cars, Charles found joy in restoring and appreciating vintage vehicles. He regularly attended Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada with his wife, Linda and friends. His hot rod even won an award at the event!
Above all else, he was a proud family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. He put his family above everything else. Many times, the family would go together on family trips, from camping, Walt Disneyland/World, cruises, theater shows, or just hanging out having dinner. A lot of laughs, memories, and quality family times were spent together!
Charles accomplished many things on his “bucket list”. He saw the Great Wall of China, many countries in Europe, the Pyramids of Egypt, and finally seeing the Panama Canal with Linda right before he passed.
Charles will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to family, community, and the values he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
