Darrell Wayne Ashby

Darrell was born December 8, 1933 in Muncie, Indiana to Ivan and Merna Ashby and was the oldest of five children. Darrell graduated from Desoto High School in 1952 and after a short while enlisted in the United States Army. While serving at Fort Lewis in 1958 Darrell met his soon-to-be wife, Sharon as she was walking to work one evening. They were married in July of 1960 and began a family. Darrell and Sharon had five children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Darrell worked many years in carpentry but spent the majority of his career working as a Journeyman Commercial Installer in the Sheetmetal industry and was a proud member, with distinction, of the Sheetmetal Union for over 50 years.

Darrell was a proud Christian and was baptized at the Nazarene church in Tumwater, where he was a member for many years.

Darrell is survived by three of his sons, Dan (wife Cathy), Kevin (wife Donella), and Jamie (wife Kally) his brother, Gordan and his dear friend, Bonnie. Darrell was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, his oldest son Michael, his daughter Kimberly, and three of his siblings, Rita, Norman, and Jeanie. There will be a private graveside Funeral service held Friday, May 30th at Mills and Mills Memorial in Tumwater.
