How can you put into words what a wonderful man Dave was: husband/ partner, father, brother, friend, co-worker, a true believer of God’s Word, and always willing to help anyone in need. A friend said Dave was quick with a smile and made everyone around him know he was enjoying life. Even on the tough days when his mobility was more difficult, he never complained. Dave simply had a joyful spirit.
David was born in Weymouth, Mass. To parents Dave and June on April 18th, 1949. Dave was one of five brothers. He passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2026 at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
When he was a young boy, Dave’s family moved from Mass. to Anaheim, CA. As a child he was active in Cub Scouts and later Boy Scouts of America. This would plant a seed later in life for Dave to become a Scout Master himself, too. As a teenager he was passionate about surfing all the beaches in Orange County. After graduating from High School he worked for 43 years as a machinist for Ford Aerospace, which later became Lockheed-Martin. He worked in the Trident nuclear missile program during his time there.
Dave met and married his wife, Geraldine (Gerrie) in 1983, and they raised their combined 6 children together. As a family they loved camping in the “Big Bear” camping grounds, in California.
Dave and Gerrie both retired in 2010 and left their home in Oceanside, CA. and moved to Lacey, WA. Dave loved puttering around in his garage (which he called his 2nd home), working on vehicles, fixing things and building projects, and always willing to help the neighbors. In 2013 through 2025 he worked as a Senate Security guard when the legislation was in session, which gave him much enjoyment.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Dave and June Patstone, brother Rodney Patstone and sister-in-law Laury Patstone (Russ’s wife)
David is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gerrie) Patstone, Sons Jeff Patstone (Michelle) of Huntington Beach, CA., David H.
