Denise Lorraine Scott

Denise Lorraine Scott, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends, October 25, 2014 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia after a long battle with liver disease. Denise was born May 6, 1955 in Berlin, Germany as her father was stationed with the Army at that time.

She is survived by her husband Sherman Scott, Rochester, WA, brother Skip (Tammy) Scoggin of Lacey WA, brother Norman (Jo Wilson) Rhoades, Chandler, AZ, nieces and nephews Tyler, Kathie, Kim, Derrick, Ben, Chris, and Jon.

Denise worked as a Veterinary Clinic Manager in Arizona, horse handler/trainer at T90 Ranch in Tenino, WA, and for the City of Olympia she worked in the building and maintenance, parking enforcement and as a water meter reader. Of all the various jobs she held during her lifetime, those jobs involving horses were her favorite.

Denise enjoyed the trips she took with her husband to Montana and Yellowstone and especially the trip to Kentucky to see the various thoroughbred horse farms. Her passion and love was working with horses for many years in which she was very involved in showmanship, judging and competing. She enjoyed supporting the local 4-H Horse groups both watching and coaching young people as they performed. Denise was known by many in the local horse community both for her knowledge and expertise in horsemanship. She loved all animals both wild and domestic and was the one to call when you had a question or problem with your horse or pet. Denise was well loved by all who knew her for her kindness and positive outlook. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Bert and Esther Scoggin, brothers Don Scoggin and Arthur Snow. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Thurston County 4-H Office, Attention: South Bay Horse Club, 5033 Harrison Ave NW, Olympia, WA 98502. A memorial service will be held at Mills & Mills Memorial Park, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater WA on November 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
