

Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015. She was born in Duchess Alberta Canada to Joseph and Mabel McCorkle on July 1, 1921 to a family of four brothers; Harry, Lute, Dale, and Jimmy. The McCorkle family moved to several different places in Washington before settling in Olympia to care for their elderly grandparents. Dorothy graduated from Olympia High School, class of 1940.
On September 16, 1942 she married Harry Norman, and together they raised four daughters in Olympia, Washington. Dorothy worked at JCPenney’s where she started as a sales clerk, promoted to the personnel department, and then to bookkeeping. She left Penny’s to take a job at the Department of Emergency Services. Shortly after starting she returned to school to take night classes, obtained her accounting degree, and was promoted to the finance department.
Dorothy volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and enjoyed gardening, birds, camping and dancing. Dorothy loved spending time with family and always made her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren feel special and important.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Norman. She is survived by daughters, Pennie Hliboki (Richard) of Rochester, Sandie Triggs (Dick) of Olympia, Connie Bergren of Lacey, Dixie Yakes (Tommy) of Wisconsin; 7 Grandchildren, Cheri Kennedy (Jeff), Bill Rock, Bob Sundberg (Dawn), Rick Triggs, Dixie Hardesty (Will), Jackie Chandler (Joey), and Joe Bergren; 13 Great-Grandchildren, Tailar Kennedy, Zane Sundberg (Amara), Allie Sundberg, Stina Rock, Megan Triggs, Zach, Josh, and Mason Hardesty, Nathan Day, Dakota Blyton Chandler, Kaleigh Chandler, Gabby Barth, and Dustin Bergren; One great-great-grandchild, Ryder Sundberg.
