

She was one of 11 children, brother, Mark of Long Beach, CA, sisters, Joanne of Palm Springs, CA and Molly Rice of Yelm all survive her. She is also survived by her husband of 71 years, Earl "Babe" Herness; three children, MaryAnn Cottmeyer of Yelm, Earlene Dolman (Jack) of Yelm, and Michael Herness of University Place, WA; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Nellie was a dedicated farm wife. She and Babe farmed all their lives together and were very successful farmers. They raised registered Jersey and Shorthorn beef cattle. Nellie and Babe loved to travel when time permitted. They traveled through Canada, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Guam and Hawaii. They were also able to drive the full length of the Mexican Baja in 1976. Nellie will be missed by all. There wasn't anything she couldn't do, and do it well.
Graveside service will be held at Yelm Cemetery on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. The family requests any donations be made to the Yelm Scholarship Fund.
