Frieda Eickhoff McInnis Jorgenson, age 97, died at her home in Olympia on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Born May 5, 1913, Frieda was the youngest of 11 children born to John William and Anna Eickhoff. She lived her entire life in Olympia, with 90 of her years being spent in the Boston Harbor area. On June 25, 1932 she married Elmo E. McInnis, who preceded her in death in 1956. They joyfully welcomed a daughter, Betty, in 1936, and a son, Bill, in 1939. Frieda and Elmo ran a chicken farm in the Boston Harbor area and built their home by hand, one load of wood at a time. That home still stands today.
Frieda was a beloved daughter, sister, mom, grandma, great grandma and aunt who always had a kind word for everyone she met. She loved to dance, sing and whistle, but most of all she loved her family and friends.
She is survived by daughter, Betty (McInnis) Nye of Olympia, daughter-in-law, Nancy (Sokolik) McInnis of Olympia, grandchildren Darcy McInnis (Cynthia Hernandez) of Seattle, Kathy (McInnis) Chavez (Ramiro) of Olympia, and Jeff McInnis (Sarah) of Tacoma, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Maxx. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Elmo, her son, Bill, and her son-in-law, Gene Nye.
