

Hal Ralston Van Gilder, 79 of Olympia Washington, passed away March 16th 2024. He was born in Seattle Washington on December 19, 1944. Hal graduated from Evergreen State College with a Bachler of Arts degree 1973. He was married to Carol Louise Van Gilder on September 27th 1966, in Vancouver Washington.
Hal retired 2016 from the Evergreen State College; Capital Improvement Project Manager. A member of the International Footprint Association; Olympia Chapter. Volunteered for Griffin Fire Department as a Firefighter, First Responder and Fire Inspector 1978 thru 1993. President of Rignall Hall Olympia 1978 thru 2022, President for the Olympia Wooden Boat Association for 30 years. Hal had a passion for civic duty, friends and Fourth of July celebrations.
Hal is survived by his; children, Jonathan Ralston Van Gilder, Jason Lee Van Gilder, Donna Louise Van Gilder, Heidi Rae Sheldon (Van Gilder), his son in law Russell Sheldon Jr., his grandchildren Hailey Marie Sheldon, and Russell Sheldon III, his daughter-in-law Kathy Louise Van Gilder, proceeded by his parents Dr. Frank Ralston Van Gilder December 31, 1974 and Florence R. York, his wife Carol Van Gilder on June 11, 2019 and his daughter Shannia Marie Van Gilder on May 23, 1973.
