Our family knew her as 'Gramma Janice'.   She and 'Candy Man' came to all Thor's and Lars' games and it was always a delight to see them. And then when 'Candy Man' passed,  'Gramma Janice' was there.  I remember her as kind, engaging and interested in all the kids. I love how the family came together for events - and sometimes we were invited even tho not family.  We are sad. She was a very special person, truly.

I was sorry to hear of Janice's passing. Have many memories of family get together's when I was young. 

Beginning in 2012, I had the joy of joining Janice to cheer on volleyball enthusiasts, first in an Olympia Park and later in the yard of Janice's sons, Danny and Wade.  As the enthusiasts aged, Janice and I began cheering on croquet players.  With a continuing assortment of players, Janice gave me a megaphone to announce volleyball scores!  All the while, the two of us shared our weekly highlights that included trips, household happenings, and always Janice's amazing zucchini bread.  The latter she labeled BOY or GIRL.  You can figure out the difference!  Summer under the tree will never be the same; I miss you! 

We are the next door neighbors, and among those who'd waved as we walked by.   Mornings, on my way to work, I'd wave when I drove past.  Janice seemed to love watching the world go by from her giant front window.   She also enjoyed decorating her front yard for each of the holidays, like hanging Easter eggs on her shrubs.   Shortly after I bought my home, and while your dad was still alive, we had an ongoing -  but friendly - dispute about our bamboo and blackberries.  One summer afternoon your dad walked over and was in the backyard chatting with me.  When Janice saw him, she immediately came over and called out to him "GET BACK OVER HERE YOU OLD FOOL!"  
(Which is now an endearment I use with my own husband)  
Pretty sure she didn't know our names, but we already miss her friendly smile and wave.

My mom was the most strongest, caring and loving person I know. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. 
I remember when we would go see an Elvis impersonator, he was very good, and mom would be memorized and giddy just like a teenager. When we would go window shopping, she’d see a very shear, short dress. She would ask me if I thought Danny would like it. We’d always laugh so hard, people would think were nuts. We were but we didn’t care because we were together. 
Mom is going to be missed not only by her family, but by everyone who knew her as Janice, Mom, Gram, Great Gram, but also the lady sitting in her window waving to the people who walked by.
