

Joanne was born on January 23, 1946, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Peter and Jenny Aiona. She dedicated her career to education, working for the Hawaii Department of Education at Keaukaha Elementary and Waiakea Intermediate, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rudolph David Peralta Sr., to whom she was married for 32 years. Joanne is survived by her three children: sons Rudolph Jr. and Roman, and daughter Uʻilani; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was the fourth of ten children and is survived by her sisters Jane, Billie, and Cosie, and her brothers Tommy, James, and Mark. She was preceded in death by her brothers Peter Jr., Patrick, and Gary.
Joanne had a passion for crafts, especially sewing and crochet. Her handmade creations were cherished gifts for family and friends, reflecting her generosity and love. A devout Roman Catholic, she proudly served as a Eucharistic minister and was an active member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, where her faith and devotion were a source of inspiration to many.
Visitation will be at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha, Hawaii on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 9:00-10:15 AM, Eulogy at 10:15 AM, and Funeral Mass from 10:30-11:30 AM. Following the service, Joanne will be laid to rest at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
Joanne’s kindness, creativity, and faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community, leaving a legacy of love and generosity. Her warmth and dedication to her crafts brought joy to those around her, while her steadfast faith and service to her church inspired everyone she met.
As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joanne’s greatest joy was her family, and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the delicious snacks for her moʻopuna. She leaves behind not just cherished memories but also a spirit of giving and a reminder of the importance of selfless love.
Joanne’s family would like to thank the caregivers, friends, and church community who supported her in her later years. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
