June Marie Post was born December 5, 1952 in Aberdeen, Washington to Evilo Vian (Wheaton) and Floyd Post. She passed away on July 17, 2021 at her home in Lacey, Washington. There will be a graveside ceremony at Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park located at 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA on August 12, 2021 at 1 pm.
June was a proud and loving mother to Sean and Ryan Post. They will miss her caring, her laughter, her teasing, and her bigger-than-life personality. Her presence was always known.
June had a long career with the State of Washington Department of Licensing where she worked for 42 years, retiring in 2014. She worked at Licensing offices in both Pierce and Thurston Counties, finishing her career at their headquarters in Tumwater.
June loved animals her entire life – she grew up around farm animals - cows, pigs, chickens, and horses. There were always family dogs in June’s life. As a kid, she had one special cow – Henry the 8th – that she rode with her sister Ruth singing the Herman Hermit’s song. Together they rode King, the horse, to Porter, WA to the country store for penny candy, then stopped at the swimming hole on the Chehalis River under the bridge where they waded in the water to cool off. It was such a different time then.
June enjoyed being with family on several family vacations to Florida and Las Vegas and California. It was a rare treat for the entire family to be together exploring new places. Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada was a great trip – but VERY HOT with those cars on tarmac in the parking lots. Also, to Orlando Florida with so many things to do.
June was an ardent shopper – always looking for deals with quality being a must. She liked crafts – crocheting, knitting, and her last projects were sewing face masks and crocheted towel holders for Christmas presents.
She loved her flower garden. Both of her grandmothers and her mother were flower lovers, especially bulbs – iris, gladiolas, dahlias. She followed in their great tradition.
June will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Sean and Ryan, and her sister, Ruth Russell and her husband, Larry, and brother, Lester O’Bryan and his wife, Lisa, and their 2 sons Patrick and Jeremy and their 7 grandchildren. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins.
