Kurt Kurtchen Josef Bernhardt Schade

Kurt was born in 1935, in Spokane, Washington, to Kurt and Ruth (Des Champs) Schade.

He graduated from Gonzaga Prepatory School in Spokane in 1953. He attended Seattle University, where he met and married his first wife, Carol Weedman Schade who preceded him in death in 1983.

Kurt married Janice Lee "Jan" Britt, from Olympia, in 1987. They have lived in Olympia since that time.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Britt of Olympia, his son, Paul Schade of Portland, Oregon, his daughters Rossanne Sosa of Carlsbad, California, and Barbara Schade of Cannon Beach, Oregon, together with 8 grandchildren. His oldest son, Greg Schade, preceded him in death in 2010.

Kurt was the 1953 state rifle champion. He loved classical music, and walking and taking care of his dogs. He was a retired Regional Manager for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, Enforcement Division, where he was also a firearms instructor, and spent 30 years in state service. He will be remembered for his wicked sense of humor, being a good neighbor, and love of his family.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on January 27, 2013 at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Kiwanis Law Enforcement Youth Camp, a 501c3 corporation, at PO Box 381, Olympia, WA 98507-0381.
