

Lavada D. Mason-Pritchard 83, died Thursday, May 25th, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born July 13, 1933, in Olympia where she resided for 72 years prior to moving to Shelton. She married Melvin E. Mason in December of 1948, they raised two daughters together until his passing in 1963. She married Ken D. Pritchard in August of 1966, for a combined family with six daughters. Ken passed away in 1985.
She worked at Adams Nursing Home, St Martin's College and DeTrays Manufactured Homes and retired from the Olympia School District in 1993. With her vivacious personality she made many friends, always a smile on her face and time to listen when people wanted to talk. She enjoyed playing cards, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles along with camping and adventurous drives. Mostly she loved going places she'd never been. As a youth she was affiliated with the Nazarene Church. She joined Calvary Fellowship of Shelton where she was baptized on Easter of 2016.
Lavada was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Hazel Adams Short-Wiggens; father Frank Short; brothers O' Dale Short, Donald Short and Keith Wiggens. Survivors include daughters Terry (Marc) Graving of Olympia and Deborah (Peter) Chakos of Shelton. Four step-daughters; Carol (Jim) McCarty of Albuquerque, NM; Shirley (Doug) Radabaugh, Dianna (Roger) Morhous and Tammie Pritchard all of Olympia; 20 grandchildren, numerous great grand children, nieces and nephews, along with a sister in law Hazel Mason Horton of Yelm, and two special buddies Donna Peterson of Tumwater and Linda Robertson of Shelton.
There will be a service in her honor on June 10th, 2017 at 1pm at Calvary Fellowship of Shelton, with a reception to follow.
