

attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Olympia High School in 1935. He married Edna Bicknell of Olympia in 1964. They had no children of their own, however, he was very involved in the lives of his nephews and nieces, attending numerous family gatherings. After completing business classes and a few temporary positions, Lewis began his long career with Kansas City Life Insurance, formerly Sunset Life Insurance, where he later retired as Vice President. Hawthorne was active in the Kiwanis club, and he enjoyed operating the club’s cotton candy booth during Lake Fair. After retirement, he became interested in Genealogy and was able to track his family roots back 16 generations.
Surviving family members include his loving wife Edna; his nephew, John Hawthorne of Olympia; niece, Emily Harvey of Olympia; nephew, David Hawthorne of Tokeland; niece, Meryl Rougeaux of Castle Rock, Colorado; niece, Elizabeth Schierman of Tumwater and thirteen grand nephews & nieces and two great grand nephews & nieces..
A visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512, followed by a graveside service at 1pm, Oddfellows Cemetery, Tumwater, WA.
