Lila passed away on Friday, December 20th, at her home in Tumwater, Washington surrounded by her close family at the age of 82. She was born in Seattle, Washington on September 14th, 1937. She married Howard Merriott in 1955 while he was stationed at the Bremerton Naval base. They moved to Howard’s home town of Independence, Missouri, and remained there for 12 years before returning to Washington in 1968. They were married for 64 years. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, a sister and a brother.
Lila’s hobbies included Arts and Crafts such as sewing, crocheting, knitting and much more. She was extremely talented at all that she did. She was an excellent seamstress and was very detail oriented down to the last stitch. She was always busy making things with her hands. Lila made some amazing items throughout her life not only for her, but also for others.
She enjoyed going to exercise three to four times a week spending time with her friends. Her friends at exercise gave her great joy and happiness. She would always talk about them and missed those days when she was not able to attend exercise or group gatherings doing things like celebrating birthdays, playing bunco, or going to lunch with the ladies.
She was a loving, caring and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and Aunt. For those who knew her, she had a kind, gentle and caring heart for everyone. Lila will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends beyond words.
