

Mark was born to Mildred Irene (Mickey) Freeman and Carl (Bob) Robert Silversten in Bend, Oregon. Mark was known for preparing and cooking delicious food. His passion for the outdoors included fishing, hunting and traveling.
After moving to Olympia, Washington, Mark took his passion and talent for food and opened one of Olympia's iconic Restaurants, Genoas on the Bay. He and his wife Mary Ann operated the restaurant for 25 years.
Mark lived life to the fullest and left an indelible impression on everyone who knew him. He was known to be generous with his love for his family and those who mattered most. Mark's infectious laugh and stories of his travels to Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Mexico were legendary and it wasn't uncommon to stop by his home for a chat and not leaving until you were filled with good food and good company.
Mark is survived by his wife of thirty years, Mary Ann Silversten of Olympia, Washington, Daughter Sonja Silversten-Vo (Tuan Vo) Olympia, Washington, Son Robert Silversten (Chelsea) of Spokane Valley, Washington. Grandchildren Sophie Vo, Kaison Vo of Olympia, Washington, Lilian Silversten, Charlyn Silversten, of Spokane Valley, Washington. Sister Cynthia Van Lom (Joseph) of Brookings, Oregon and niece Hannah of Amsterdam. Many more loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Carl (Bob) Robert Silversten, Mother, Mildred (Mickey) Freeman, Dad Edward (Mr. Ed) Freeman, and Sister, Pamela Derr.
Mark's family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Fir Woods Adult Family home for all the excellent care and love they gave to Mark and his family.
A private family celebration of life and internment will be held at a future date.
