On June 13, 1941 she married James Boyd (Pete) Morrow. They were married for 54 years. Pete and Maxine raised their four children, Boyd, Judy, Dean and Randy in Elma.
Maxine worked as a nurse’s aide and later the manager of the Elma Dairy Queen. In the 1960’s she began her career at the Elma Variety Store which lasted over 40 years, as both an employee and a few years as the owner. She loved working and enjoyed helping people find that perfect item, especially in crafts.
Maxine was an incredible volunteer making sure anyone who needed help was able to find the right place. She was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for over 80 years. She attended the Elma Baptist Church for over 60 years volunteering with the Mary Martha Guild, teaching Sunday school, and organizing help for families in the community and for her dear church families.
Maxine worked at the East Grays Harbor Food Bank for many years helping to prepare for those in need. She would take soup and desserts for the other volunteers to enjoy on the busy day of serving families. Her favorite part of volunteering was helping friends and family. Everyone could count on Maxine to show up when help was needed no matter where or when.
Her talents were unlimited with knitting, crocheting, stencil painting and more. As an avid quilter, she made beautiful quilts for all her family.
She loved spending time with family, especially all those grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by her daughter Judy (Dixon) Smith, sons Dean (Lucinda) Morrow, Randy (Dina) Morrow, Daughter-in-law Carol (Boyd) Morrow, grandchildren, Janna, Jason, Stephen, Charlie, Brennan, Ryan and Devon and several great grand children and great great grand children. Also, survived by long time family friend John Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Pete, sister Barbara Dining, brother Leslie Westover and son Boyd Morrow.
Thank you to all of Maxine’s family and friends (old and new) who loved and admired her throughout her life.
